Como Zoo.

Jacob worked at the preschool for me, so he got paid. I pay him in rows of 10 dimes each so it is easy for him to see what his tithe should be. He has even made a little mailbox to keep his money for God in until Sundays. Jacob looked at the rows of dimes and asked, "Which end is my firsts?" It is so neat to see such a great faith in such a little guy!

At the lake

At the lake.

Friday, May 22, 2009

At the lake this weekend, Jacob was really busy with this airplane. The wings and the tail kept coming off when it crashed, and Jacob spent a good hour and a whole roll of tape repairing it. He was so focused and dedicated...more like he was a surgen. It was sweet to see all of the care he put into making it strong. He was very proud of himself when he was done...and so were we.

Big day today! Not only did Jacob go to get his passport today (complete with taking an official oath), but he also tied his shoes by himself for the first time (see video!) It was a pretty special birthday for Dad!

I received an email today about how 2nd graders answered some questions about mothers. I decided to ask Jacob the questions:
1. Why did God make mothers?..."So they can love kids."
2. How did God make mothers?..."Did he say, 'Let there be mothers?'"
3. What ingredients are mothers made of?..."Nothing, because God just said, 'Let there be mothers'."
4. Why did God give you your mother, and not some other mom?..."So Ican love you, and no one else"
5. What kind of little gorl was your mom?..."A light skinned girl, and a baby."
6. What did your mom need to know about dad before she married him?..."See if he loved you, and if he was good, because you can't marry someone who likes to hit."
7. Why did your mom marry your dad?..."Because you loved him."
8. Whose the boss at your house?..."Dad, 'cuz he does all the work around the house."
9. What's the difference between moms and dads?..."Moms have longer hair, and the dads have shorter hair. Dad's talk different than moms."
10. What does your mom do in her free time?..."Play, go to the park, watch movies."
11. What would it take to make your mom perfect?..."Nothing because you are perfect."
12. If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?..."Nothing, because you don't need to have a change."

Quotes From Jacob:
"The fireplace looks like the alter that Moses built." (04-04-09)

(04-19-09) Eating a baked potato at dinner:
"Mom, Grandpa's that don't have teeth love potato I bet because they don't have to chew it."

(04-26-09) Auntie was going to ride with us in the car. We were all saying good-byes, and Auntie gave Mark a kiss good-bye. Next in line, I told Mark, "I won't kiss you, but I'll give you a hug." Jacob asked why I wouldn't give Mark a kiss, and I said because Mark isn't my husband:
"Well I'm not your husband, and you kiss me!"

(04-28-09) Tator tot hot dish for dinner, which is not one of Jacob's favorites because it has hamburger in it. I asked Nate for ideas of things to add to it for next time, and Jacob added his own ideas:
"How 'bout nothing, and just not make it!"

(04-29-09) Eating left over hot dish at dinner:
"Mom, I think I'm getting allergic to tator tot hot dish...but not corn."

(04-30-09) Helping pay bills...We have been talking about which bills are for what. Jacob does the address labels, stamps, and licks the envelope:
"This one tastes like health insurance!"

(05-01-09)
Jacob: "Hey, I have an idea!"
Mom: "What's your idea? You always have great ideas Jacob!"
Jaocb: "Well this one's better than the ones I've ever told you!"

(05-01-09) Jacob playing around, poking at his eye:
Mom: "Oh, let's not poke at our eyes. Eyes are kind of fragile."
Jacob: "Can I put packing peanuts around them?"

(05-01-09) Reading a story about a little boy who liked a big soft chair, because it was his favorite place to give hugs, favorite place to play, and favorite place to read. At the end of the story I asked Jacob...
Where is your favorite place to read?...the rocking chair.
Where is your favorite place to play?...in my room.
Where is your favorite place to give hugs?...any place Dad is!

(05-02-09) "Mom, I know why Sunday is the first day of the week...because that's just the way God wanted it...so we would put Him first before anything else...you know, like giving our firsts.

(05-02-09) "Grandma is the only Grandma that can be a Grandma like she can!"
