Tonight, Nate and I both picked up Jacob after work. We surprised him by pulling up in the convertable. (He loves riding in the convertable!) Jacob was playing outside. I started to open the car door to greet him, and he didn't even acknowledge us. He was so focused on riding in the car, he just crawled into the back seat as quickly as he could, and buckled himself in!

Quotes from Jacob:
Driving in the car, we saw a car dealership, and a big blow up monster with a sign on his tummy that read "Monster of a sale!" About 2 blocks down the road, Jacob makes up this new joke:
"Why did the chicken cross the road?
...to get to the monster of a sale!"
Ahhh ha ha ha ha!!!
Bedtime prayers:
"Dear God, thank you for all the creatures...and Mommy and Daddy. Amen.
"I know lots of big words...
Jacob...that's a big word!
House...that's a big word!
Lots and lots and lots of money...that's a big word!"
Jacob was sitting on my lap facing me.
He put my hair over my ears, and said:
"You look really nice Mommy...without ears!"
Talking to Jacob about how happy we are that he is part of our life,
and that he makes us smile, Jacob replied,
"Were you sad before I was here?"
"You know what the best part is for a hunter...THE MEAT!!"

The garage was open, and Jacob was standing at the door when I said, "Okay Jacob, should we go inside and get ready for bed?" As he looked around the garage with his hands folded and a content smile, Jacob said, "I just want to look at all the beautiful things in here!"

Quotes from Jacob the past few weeks:
Jacob's reply to Nana referring to him as "Mister":
"I'm not Mister, I'm Jacob. My Mommy didn't name me Mister when I was a baby in the hospital!"
Jacob was sitting on one end of the couch, and I was sitting on the other, and we had a big blanket covering both of us. I was teasing him, whining that he was so far away. Jacob relpied:
"Oh no...the love just goes right through the blanket!"
Jacob really likes the story The Little Engine that Could. Pretty much every day, we'll be playing trains, and Jacob will say, "See my jolly load!"
Visiting a new church this morning. I commented that "It's kind of neat to visit a new church sometimes, isn't it?"
Pointing to the organ pipes at the front of the church, he replied:
"This church is kind of funny because it's got guns."
Really over tired at the very end of church this morning, Jacob looked up at the ceiling fans and whined:
"I don't like the fans. I don't want them here. They are not my favorite color...they are white!"
(Nate very calmly suggested that maybe we could paint the fans blue the next time we come to visit.)

Jacob asked me to help him tie this cape on so he could be a hero. He went around the house "fixing problems for people". Later, we set up a tent in the living room, and he got to sleep in the tent tonight. He was really good about staying in the tent all night, and falling asleep right away. When I came in to check on him before I went to bed, his legs were sticking out...Reminded me of Dorothy's house landing on the wicked witch of the west!

Tonight we tried stamping and painting with water color paints. Jacob was very focused, and likes doing any kind of art project.

Quotes from Jacob the past couple of weeks:
Explaining why he didn't want more books at the library this week:
"So other toddlers can buy the library books to read"
On the patio, and the mosquitos were starting to annoy Jacob:
"I wish there were no more bugs. I want Jesus to stop making bugs. I think I am getting old, because the bugs are starting to bite me."
Explaining how a lightbulb burns out:
"The atoms just go pshhhhhh, and go all over the place, and the tungsten filament burns out"
(He is really good about making sure extra lights are turned off.)
When he opened his eyes after dinner prayers:
"I think about you when I pray Mommy, because I think you're cute, and I love you...that's why I think about you in my prayers."
Finding some little tree roots in his new mud box:
"That's what the plumbers used to find in the pipes in the old days."
(I think he remembered when the plumber came to clean the tree roots out of our main line about a year ago.)
Jacob's on-going question everytime we get in the car:
"Are you wearing your seatbelt Mommy?"
In the car on the way to church:
"Mommy, you can tell me anything."

We went to a Family Fun Night tonight. They had games and a bounce house, and lots of things to see up close including a police car, an ambulance, a fire truck, a city snow plow, and this scoop truck!
