Jacob is talking a lot now, and it is really fun to finally get to find out what he is thinking. Tonight in the middle of dinner, Jacob signed "Jesus" "loves" "me", just out of the blue. After dinner, he was playing with his little people and bus and house, and he said "Mama sit on the floor". Usually his sentences are 2-3 words along with signing, like "Fellow jumped", or "Mama sit". I sat down on the floor to play with him and he said (and signed) "Mama socks" because I wasn't wearing any socks. He got up from playing and went to my room all on his own, and got a pair of socks out of the right drawer and gave them to me...then he gave me a huge hug!! He is growing up so fast, and picks up so much! He can count to 10 now (see video), and knows the 8 basic colors in a box of crayola markers.

Jacob painting tonight

Jacob lined up all of his little animals along the fence and the little people are standing on the other side of the fence to look at them!!

I went to Texas for the weekend and got this T-shirt for Jacob with a train on it. He was really excited to wear it this morning!! I talked to Jacob on the phone a few times while I was gone, and Jacob would say "Texas" because that is where mommy was. Today, grandma heard an airplane and asked Jacob if he heard the airplane too. Usually, Jacob will sign "airplane", but today he signed "mommy". Jacob and I have talked a few times tonight about mommy being "all done" riding on the airplane. He also helped me "cook" spaghetti for dinner tonight. I try to think of it as if he were making it, and I am just helping him. He does a really good job, and referred to the spaghetti sauce as "dip"!

Last night we went to Target. As we were walking in the parking lot, Jacob looked up at the big Target symbol on the outside of the store and signed “circle”, “ball”, and “red” all on his own. He was very excited. Jacob got a new step stool so that he can get in and out of his toddler bed by himself. When we got home, he tried it out, and it seemed to work great. I checked in a few minutes later, and he was sweeping off the steps with his toy broom.

Jacob monkey-ing around before dinner tonight!

Today we went to see the Curious George movie at the movie theatre. Jacob was very attentive until the last 15 minutes or so, and he ate a ton of popcorn. Jacob signed anything he saw on the screen that he knew the sign for, and says "George" when he sees Curious George. I think it was a good choice for a first movie, and he really did pretty well. It really helped to bring his booster chair so he sat up a little higher, and was buckled in so he wasn't so fidgety. He just looked like a little adult watching the movie and chomping on popcorn. It was fun to watch his reactions throughout the movie!

Today we went to a kid's dance and pizza party at BeBop. Jacob was the youngest one there, but the other kids were really nice about looking out for him. He liked dancing in circles with a hoola hoop, and he even got to limbo for the first time!! We watched the other kids limbo while we waited our turn, and talked about going under the stick. The first time, he walked up to the stick and waited for it to raise up out of the way, but soon learned to crawl under it. The hardest part was waiting in line again for another turn!! Pictures did not turn out very well in there, but see video.

Tonight we went shopping, and Jacob got a little people school bus and a play house, which he helped put together. He piled all the people into the bus and pushed it a little ways, then he said "stop", and went to his room. He came back with 2 hands full of little hot wheels cars, and lined them up one by one, each time telling the new car to "stop", putting his hand out to signal stop!! It was really fun to watch, and he was very busy!!

We are going to see Curious George in the movie theatre on Sunday, so tonight we watched a little 30 minute Curious George movie on DVD that Jacob had not seen before. (We've read lots of Curious George stories lately though!) Jacob was so attentive, and smiled or laughed the entire time. I think he'll like the movie theatre!!

Kristen was singing "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands" with Jacob today, and he went over to her cat, Lucy, and clapped the cat's front paws together!

He's starting to put words together now too. He signs "fish" and "crackers" when he wants goldfish crackers. He also likes to point out busses while we're driving in the car. He even says "bus" if we pass a place we typically see a bus stop, but there isn't one there at the time. "Church" is the other landmark he will note, even if we haven't gotten to one yet...he knows when they are coming up!! Tonight we went to visit Carol. She lives in a senior apartment complex, and Jacob has a lot of friends there!! They even stopped their bingo game tonight to visit with him!

Jacob pronounces his name "Da-bop". His little stuffed animal dog, Sandy, is pronounced "Sadie". It is really fun to hear him learning to talk. A lot of things he will sign and say, which helps get the message across faster too!!

Tonight I showed Jacob how to make a little "tent" in the living room with some chairs and a couple of blankets. Jacob thought this was just so great! He made about 8 trips to his room to bring out friends and blankets to put in his tent. Then he got some books to read in there too. He had quite the party going on in there! He gets really animated with his stuffed animals now, which is very entertaining to watch and listen to!!

We also practiced some more of our songs tonight!! (See video) The hokie pokie is our newest one!!

Yesterday when I came to pick up Jacob, Grandma said he will need more diapers soon, so I helped Jacob leave a message on our answering machine so I'd remember. I prompted him for each word, but he said "diapers...thank you...love you...bye-bye". It was soooo cute, so we played it onto my MP3 player to download onto the computer to keep. Jacob was very interested in the MP3 player, so I let him listen to some music on it. Pretty soon his head was moving to the music, and he thought it was fun!! If you notice in the picture, he likes laying out a little blanket to use as his play space, mostly for blocks and cars. This has become very imprtant to him, and it's funny to watch how particular he is about making sure the corners are just right. Over the weekend, Jacob was looking for his cars to put on his blanket. He was wandering through the house, looking around and calling out "caaaaaaaaars...caaaaaaaaars".

Tonight we went to check out the Harley Davidson motorcycle store right by our house so Jacob could see all the "bikes", and we went out to eat. I thought the picture in black and white was cool!!
